3rd Grade Doctors! The third grade students became doctors today as they learned the distributive property and different reading strategies. They also had a couple guest visitors. Mrs. Tammy Buerkley, a nurse at Sheyenne Care Center, came in to show the students how to take their vitals, check blood pressure, find and listen to their heartbeat, and did a hand washing lesson! Mrs. Robin Kinzler showed the kids a human blood smear. The students learned about cells, platelets, and how to use a microscope! Also want to send a huge thank you to Tammy for donating all the supplies to the third grade classroom!

Free and Reduced Meal Applications Senate Bill 2284 was passed as an appropriation to the Department of Public Instruction to help with costs for school meals. The purpose is to defray the expenses of providing meals, free of charge, for all students enrolled in public or nonpublic schools at or below two hundred percent of the federal poverty guideline, for the biennium beginning July 1, 2023, and ending June 30, 2025. This means that families who qualify based on the expanded income (earning up to 200% poverty level) will not need to pay for breakfast or lunch. Free or Reduced meal benefits DO NOT rollover from year to year and you must re-apply every year. If you qualified for Free or Reduced Meal benefits during the previous school year, you will receive a 30 school day grace period which ends now. Applications are accepted anytime during the school year. If your household income changes at anytime during the school year and you think you may qualify for Free or Reduced Meal benefits, we encourage you to apply. Please call the business office if you have any questions or need any help with the application process.
